The performance was incredible

The music, the actors, the art and choreography were all incredible. The only reasons this is not receiving a 5 star review are still baffling me. I do realize this is a Disney production. I also have three children of my own. That being said, people are not listening to the age restrictions, and suggested ages. We splurged on very nice seats that were a true treat for us, and sat in the center orchestra area. I was baffled that both a group to the orchestra left and orchestra right had toddlers. They screamed for a great deal of the show, and were very disruptive. I understand these things happen, but the parents choosing to stay in there and shushing them loudly for quite sometime during the first half and a great deal of the second half was infuriating. Keep in mind, I again have three children. Ranging from ages 7 to 13. I had talk to them about the proper etiquette to go to a Broadway play before we ever arrived. Although the lion King is one of our favorites, and we know every word to every song, I definitely told them not to sing out loud as that can be very disruptive for a show of this caliber and how it can be disruptive to others. We also planned out bathroom breaks beforehand so no one would be disrupted as we were leaving our seats. They were well behaved and enjoyed the show very much. However, They even commented afterwards on the toddlers who should have been taken out. I know no one wants to miss a thing, but if the parents can’t have social awareness and at least step out instead of continuing to shush them as loudly as possible for 30+ minutes during a BROADWAY presentation where a certain etiquette is to be followed, the ushers should have said something. Again I was dead center in the orchestra and did not want to step away from my family, as I kept thinking surely it would stop and that someone would step in without me having to leave my seat and disrupt all around me getting there and standing up to squeeze through to grab an usher. I am truly aggravated with this behavior still. I beg you to make it children ages 6 and up. I know it’s suggested, and that children under two are not allowed, but sadly it seems today that people disregard manners and what should be common practice courtesy. It elevates the experience for everyone in the theatre that have paid good money for tickets, and helps us to appreciate the beautiful artistry so much more.
